An Industry Wide Problem

In an industry traditionally plagued by inefficiencies and inaccuracies, Strait Gauge offers a game-changing approach that combines cutting-edge hardware with advanced software. At the heart of our innovation is the recognition of a critical need: the necessity to increase accuracy while simultaneously reducing costs associated with waste water measurement and delivery.

With Strait Gauge, oil companies can bid farewell to the era of approximations and uncertainties. Our system provides precise measurements* of waste water levels within transport tanks, eliminating guesswork and ensuring that every drop is accounted for.

The Problem

TRADITIONAL METHOD

Ball Float System

The ball float system typically consists of a hollow metal or plastic ball attached to a rod or arm. This float is placed inside the tank, where it floats on the surface of the liquid being measured. As the liquid level changes, the float rises or falls accordingly. The movement of the float is typically connected to a mechanical gauge or indicator located outside the tank.

Limitations

While this system can provide accurate measurements under ideal conditions, its accuracy may be affected by factors such as the size and shape of the tank, the viscosity of the liquid being measured, and the condition of the float mechanism.

Potential for Error

Think of the traditional ball float system as akin to a fuel gauge in your vehicle. Similar to how a fuel gauge provides only approximate readings, the ball float system measures liquid levels in fractions, ranging from empty to full. However, there's a margin of uncertainty associated with this method. Much like our fuel gauges, we can only estimate within a certain range how much liquid is in our tank.

Furthermore, the ball float system often registers a tank as full when it's only at 80% to 90% capacity. This discrepancy leaves operators with a significant amount of guesswork, introducing unnecessary uncertainties into the measurement process. This lack of precision can lead to inefficiencies and inaccuracies in operations, highlighting the need for a more reliable and precise solution.

THIS DEAD SPACE TYPICALLY AMOUNTS TO 10-20 BARRELS (BBLS) OR APPROXIMATELY 6-12% OF THE TANKS UNMEASURABLE CAPACITY.

Early Adopters

Bell Energy Services, LLC is a company that has served the Bakken oilfield since 2018. They are a regional leader in the industry, specializing in fluid hauling but also offering water sales, environmental cleanup, roustabout, and other services. In early 2024, Bell Energy Services began the installation of Strait Gauge on their entire fleet - securing their reputation as highly accurate and transparent service providers.

By June 1st, 2024 every Bell Energy truck was successfully equipped with a Strait Gauge meter system!
